Review, Review, Review

What good is learning something new if you promptly forget it?

I admit, I got through one or two college electives like this, but as a result, I couldn't tell you a single thing about Asian Art History or 20th Century Religion.

A child's brain is like a sponge, it's true, but if you don't review the important stuff, it will soon only be soaking up the easy stuff (like Justin Bieber lyrics and TV show dialogue).  Help your child remember what they have learned by using it every time the opportunity arises.  Don’t be afraid to use math words with your children.  Let them build confidence with simple questions, and get them used to trying to answer hard questions; the praise should always be for their effort, not their answer.  This is the best way to help your children have a lifetime of academic confidence and success.
